Its election day in Lyme Regis

IT’S election day (Thursday 2 May) and Lyme Regis residents are asked to vote for their representative on Dorset Council.

Four candidates are standing for election to the Lyme and Charmouth ward and one seat is available.

Standing for election are Belinda Bawden for the Green Party, Michaela Louise Ellis for the Local Conservatives, David Hart for the Labour Party and Paddy Mooney for the Liberal Democrats.

The polling stations in Lyme Regis are at Woodmead Halls and Hallett Court and they are open from 7am to 10pm.

Voters are reminded they will need to show photo identification to be able to vote, and examples include a passport, driving licence, blue badge or bus pass.

An election for the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for the Dorset Police area is also taking place on the same day, with four candidates to choose from.

Standing for election for PCC are Howard Legg for the Liberal Democrats, David Sidwick for the Conservatives, David Stokes for the Labour and Co-Operative Party, and Marianne Storey, an independent.

There will be no election for Lyme Regis Town Council as there were only 13 candidates nominated for the 14 seats, so all candidates were elected uncontested.
