Cllr Belinda Bawden resigns from the town council

A LYME Regis town councillor has resigned and the vacancy has been advertised.

Cllr Belinda Bawden has resigned from the town council but continues as the Dorset Council ward member for Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

In her resignation, Cllr Bawden said: “I'm resigning from Lyme Regis Town Council to make the most of the new responsibilities and opportunities available under the new administration of Dorset Council, through which I'll continue to serve the communities of Lyme and Charmouth.”

Dorset Council has been informed of the resignation and a notice has been issued to advertise the town councillor vacancy.

An election will take place if 10 or more electors request one by 17 July, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

If an election is called, it will take place not later than 19 September.

To request an election, electors must write to the Returning Officer, Electoral Services, Dorset Council, County Hall, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1XJ or by email to elections@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
