Explore the Fascinating Life and Legacy of William Buckland

If you're a history enthusiast, a lover of geology, or simply intrigued by the fascinating figures who helped shape our understanding of the natural world, don't miss the upcoming illustrated talk hosted by the Friends of Lyme Regis Philpot Museum.

On Thursday 6th February at 2.30pm, come and immerse yourself in the remarkable career, character, and contributions of William Buckland, one of the most influential figures in 19th-century science.

Buckland was a pioneering geologist and paleontologist, who collaborated closely with William Conybeare, a fellow geologist, on several important scientific endeavors. Their most notable joint work was in the study of fossils, particularly their groundbreaking research on the Megalosaurus, one of the first dinosaurs to be scientifically described. Find out more about this fascinating collaboration from local historian David Knapman.
