Grand Opening of Lyme Regis Repair Cafe – A New Community Hub for Sustainability

Lyme Regis residents are invited to celebrate the much-anticipated grand opening of the town’s very own Repair Cafe this Saturday, 15 March.

The event will be marked by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10am, opened by the Mayor, Cllr Philip Evans MBE.

This exciting initiative provides a welcoming space where residents can bring broken household items for repair by skilled volunteers. Whether it’s a faulty kettle, a torn jacket, or a wobbly chair, the Repair Cafe is here to help—encouraging a ‘make do and mend’ mindset that benefits both the community and the environment.

The project has been a top priority for Lyme Regis Town Council following extensive community consultation. Recognising the growing concern over waste and sustainability, the Council has been fully committed to supporting this vital initiative.

A huge thank you goes out to the dedicated volunteers who have made this vision a reality, offering their time and expertise to help others. Their skills and generosity will ensure that the Repair Cafe becomes a thriving hub of activity for years to come.

The grand opening promises to be a fantastic community event, so come along, meet the volunteers, and find out how the Repair Cafe can help you breathe new life into your much-loved items. Let’s work together to reduce waste, embrace sustainability, and make Lyme Regis a greener place to live!
