Green Libraries Week

Green Libraries Week

Green Libraries Week 7-13 October

Libraries across Dorset are teaming up with various council departments to bring you a week filled with exciting and fun events for all ages.
Throughout the week, libraries will be showcasing the fantastic support available through the council’s Healthy Homes Dorset, Nature Recovery Dorset, and Low Carbon Dorset programmes. These initiatives aim to help residents, businesses, and communities tackle climate change and nature loss in our county.
Highlights of the Week:

  • energy advice drop-in sessions: drop-in to Gillingham and Weymouth libraries for free advice from Ridgewater Energy on how to save energy at home. Discover a range of energy-saving devices and tips to reduce your carbon footprint
  • nappy champions: following rhyme time sessions, some of our libraries will be hosting Nappy Champions. Pop along for the chance to learn more about reusable nappies and the council’s Reusable Nappies incentive scheme
  • our journey to net zero: visit Weymouth Library and Learning Centre to see an inspiring collection of photographs and stories showcasing Dorset’s commitment to tackling climate change

Libraries in Dorset already boast strong green credentials. By borrowing books, e-books, magazines, and newspapers, you’re contributing to a more sustainable world. Plus, don’t miss out on our extensive range of free audiobooks.
