Lyme Regis Town Council Staff Complete Emergency First Aid Training Course

At Lyme Regis Town Council, the safety and well-being of the community are at the forefront of everything we do. Last week, our dedicated office and external teams took a vital step in enhancing their ability to respond in times of a medical emergency by participating in comprehensive Emergency First Aid training. It was important for the council to train as many staff as possible, to better equip them with knowledge that could help save lives if an emergency were to occur, at work or out in the community.

Why First Aid Training Matters

In any community, emergencies can occur at any time. Whether it's a workplace accident, a health-related incident in a public space, or a sudden medical emergency at a community event, having trained first aiders on hand can make all the difference in saving lives and ensuring swift, effective responses.

By undertaking Emergency First Aid training, the Town Council is equipping its teams with essential skills to manage a range of potential situations. This included learning how to respond to common injuries and medical conditions such as cuts, burns, heart attacks, and strokes. The training also covered CPR, managing bleeding, dealing with choking incidents, and epileptic seizures, ensuring that everyone is prepared to act quickly and efficiently.

The sessions covered everything from basic first aid techniques to more advanced life-saving measures. Staff learned how to assess a situation, prioritize care, and manage injuries while waiting for professional medical help to arrive.

A Well-Rounded Course for All Staff

The training wasn't limited to just one department; it involved both the office staff and the external teams who play an integral role in the daily operations of the town council. This included gardeners, finance officers, front desk staff, and other members of the external teams who frequently interact with the public and may be the first responders to emergencies in outdoor environments. By including all areas of the Council's operation, the training ensures that no matter where an emergency occurs, there's always someone capable of providing first aid assistance.

Stay safe

We are incredibly proud of the commitment demonstrated by all the teams who participated in this training and look forward to continuing our efforts to ensure that Lyme Regis remains a welcoming, safe, and vibrant community for all.

Stay safe, and remember in an emergency, every second counts. Having the right people with the right skills can make all the difference.
