Biography
I have lived in Lyme Regis for five years and been a Councillor for over two, in which time I have chaired both Tourism, Community and Publicity Committee and Town Management Committee.
My background is in education, healthcare and standard setting and I work to use this experience to support the Council in its aims of leading by example, treating everyone equally and working together towards the highest standards to support and enhance our town.
It is a privilege to be involved in the running of this lovely town and to help make it as good as possible for residents, visitors and businesses. When I first joined the Council I was surprised to discover our huge number of assets, from our stunning scenery and beautiful countryside to our buildings, parks, gardens, range of clubs and activities and, most importantly, our people.
Whether a relative newcomer like me, from a family who has lived for generations in Lyme, or someone who works in or visits the town, I believe we should all be equally valued and included and make our contribution.
Some of the many projects I have been involved with to date include the food bank, Seaside Store and Citizens Advice and also work with our youth, arts and sports groups including the Marine Theatre, Sailing School and Scouts. There are so many more which I am looking forward to explore in the future, including development of a Repair Café.
One of my biggest interests is improving our environment, through our Traffic and Transport Working Group and through work in our gardens, rivers and sea. I jointly lead the Beach Clean Project and am involved with other waste initiatives. We are lucky to have organisations such as Turn Lyme Green, Plastic Free Lyme and the River Lim Action Group working with us on these projects and tremendous support from our hardworking Council Team.
