Biography
After retiring from 60 years in journalism I was co-opted onto the council to fill a vacancy in 2023, 40 years after being elected the town’s youngest mayor at the age of 34.
Following the resignation of David Ruffle I was elected mayor and I am making a big effort to try and improve the town’s perception of the council after a few turbulent years.
The council has gone through some challenging times in recent years and I am committed to working tirelessly to improve the relationship between councillors in a bid to win back the trust and respect of the people of Lyme.
To that end I am holding a surgery in the Mayor’s Parlour the third Saturday every month, inviting residents to give me their views on the council and to be able to inform them of the many projects we are intending to deliver for the town.I am also meeting with as many local groups and organisations as I can to get our message across.
Lyme is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the south coast and we need to ensure that our tourism services are of the highest standard in an ever- competitive market as well as making sure that the needs of our townsfolk are never ignored.
