As the autumn months roll on, it’s been a particularly busy season for the staff here at Lyme Regis Town Council. October proved to be a whirlwind, with a few key activities keeping the office team on their toes. One of the highlights was Beach Hut Booking Day, which saw many residents and visitors eager to secure their spots for the upcoming year. It’s always a popular event, and this year was no exception, as beach huts continue to be a favourite part of our community’s seaside experience. Additionally, parking permit renewals were in full swing, with residents reminded to ensure they have renewed their concessionary parking permits. If you haven't done so already, be sure to check in with us to get it sorted!

Moving into November, our council meetings have been full of progress with decisions on community projects, and preparations are already underway for the Full Council meeting on 11 December 2024. It’s been a busy month for councillors and staff alike as we work through important matters that affect our town, residents and communities.

November also marked the delivery of the latest edition of the Residents’ Newsletter. This edition had been eagerly anticipated, and we held off distributing it until we had a full council of 14 members again. With a fresh and informative layout, the newsletter provides updates on a key project, a heart-warming event, and introduces the 14 members of our council, offering an insight into the work being done in our community. If you haven’t received your copy yet, keep an eye out!

We also held another Bid-Writing support session which saw 3 different community groups and organisations receiving some tailored support towards their fundraising goals. This has been an ongoing initiative this year, and it has been wonderful to receive such positive feedback from the groups that have benefited. If you couldn’t make it to this November date, We intend to hold another support session sometime in the New Year, so keep your eyes peeled for updates after Christmas!

While the office team has been hard at work on these internal projects, our external team has been equally busy. They’ve been putting in the hours repairing the gazebo in the gardens as part of ongoing maintenance to ensure our town residents know we are listening to them and working with them. This includes seasonal work to keep our areas, parks, and gardens looking beautiful, which is so important for residents and visitors alike. From fixing pathways to maintaining our green spaces, the dedication of our external team ensures Lyme Regis continues to shine as a picturesque town on the coast.

As we approach the end of the year, the pace certainly isn’t slowing down, but we remain committed to serving our community and keeping Lyme Regis a place we’re all proud to call home. Stay tuned for more updates as we head into the festive season!
